one of you jerks is getting a surprise troll in the mail

so nobody wanted to play along with my little troll giveaway yesterday. but that is ok, because unlike the tango, this does not require two participants. you can be the involuntary recipient of this little tchotchke del diablo. I KNOW WHERE YOU PEOPLE LIVE. *insert invader zim-style laughter here*

anyways, so last night i had a purple smoothie for dinner instead of a green one. but there was still a ridiculous amount of spinach in it.

[that's a smoothie and a diet root beer. because um ... well i don't know why. just because i wanted diet root beer.] this smoothie was pretty delish. i have to say i'm on a pretty happy streak of tasty smoothies lately.

pretty delish smoothie recipe
  • splash of almond mylk
  • 1/4 c fage yogurt
  • harris teeter cherries/berries mix
  • fistfuls of spinach
  • a whole bunch of cinnamon
  • 6 ice cubes

do not attempt this smoothie if you do not have a high-powered blender or you will be pretty mad.

for jeremy's dinner, i made what i have come to call a 'deconstructed bell pepper' because it sounds fancy which makes up for how now exciting it is. but he seems to like it?

it's just ground turkey seasoned with garlic salt and pepper. you cook it. in a pan. when it's mostly done you add a chopped onion and green bell pepper and some marinara. then you put it on a plate and your husband eats it and is happy because he is essentially consuming a big pile of ground meat and that's pretty much the definition of a 'winner' in his 'dinner' book. i also cubed up a potato and boiled it, then threw it under the broiler with some salt, pepper and basil until it browned up, then drizzled it with olive oil. i think jeremy liked this potato concoction quite a lot.

this morning i went back to green colored smoothies. in honor of the troll (and to hopefully appease him and keep him from haunting my every waking moment with his scandinavian black magic), i made it green and hideous. i think he would like a smoothie like that.

this is the same smoothie from the other day that i stole off that iowa girl's website. ooh, you know what doesn't look like a word? iowa.

for lunch i am taking tuna salad. i know. canned tuna is gross. but idk man, i guess i'm immune to its grossness because i grew up eating it? the difference now is that it is mayonnaise free.

that's right people, you sub out the mayo for hummus! as far as i know, hummus-tuna-salad is my own invention and someone needs to compensate me for it because it is brilliant.

here's my lunch/work time foods for the day. i pack the tuna and the lettuce separate because in the past when i have packed them together, the lettuce got all slimey and was a real bummer.

also, in recent weeks i have been really dehydrated because i get too busy at work and forget to drink water. at the end of the day i wind up feeling like total crap and then i'm all like oh yeah, i'm dying of dehydration. so today it is my goal to drink 3 nalgenefuls of water. for those of you who don't use nalgene as a unit of measurement, 1 nalgene = 32 oz so 3 nalgene = whatever 32 x 3 is. i don't do math.

that's my challenge face. it loses something when worn along with a fluffy rubber ducky robe i guess. also see those zits? THANK YOU NATURE. because nothing makes up for a week of cramping, bleeding guts quite like a faceful of zits.
